Interview - The most basic portion. This will be a confirmation of your personal and contact information with a couple Mock Trial related questions.
Prepared Speech - This is a 3 minute, argumentative in nature speech about any topic (it does not need to be law-related). We encourage you to show your interest outside of school, and speak on anything you are truly passionate about. Notes are allowed, but discouraged. You will be cut off at 3:10.
Impromptu - This will be a 3 minute speech aimed at highlighting your ability to process and speak on your feet. We will give you a random word, 1 minute to think, then ask you to begin. You will be cut off at 3:10.
Witness Portrayal - This will be your portrayal of a selected provided witness. At your Tryout, we will ask what witness you prepared, and ask questions accordingly. Each “type” of witness has been provided with an attached Affidavit. Please watch the videos in “Examples” tab to see examples of a Direct, and Cross examination. Try to read multiple Affidavits before selecting which to portray, to allow you to find one that fit’s your abilities and interests best. Attached below are the 4 witness options available for your Tryout.
